Dad says he can’t reach his Son

Our Son has ASC but does engage with others and although he can be in his own world he isn’t always . If his Dad is struggling with our Son, he’ll say I can’t reach him his locked in his own world, if I say other people can, he just gets cross and says so your saying it’s me then.  He then says later how well he’s coming on socially and that he is engaged with him.  How do I explain our Son can be reached and is being reached ?

    but ill try it this way.... it is easier for a worker to connect with another worker they work with, with a peer.... but when their boss comes out of the office, there is a tension and you cant speak or connect to the boss on the level you can with your fellow workers/peers that you work along side with.

    i believe its similar to that.... the dad is a authority figure, like the boss. its gonna be harder to connect with his dad than it is to connect with other kids he goes to school with.
