How to find the right therapist

We have a 15-year-old diagnosed with ASC and over the past few months they've suffered from sever depression and anxiety. I'm a bit fed up with getting nowhere via the NHS and want to find a private therapist. Have searched on this website for a therapist in my local area, but it's only giving a local specialist school as a result. Where do I find the correct therapist? Is there a (reputable) website for such things?

  • The best counsellor I have found was through an lgbt+ charity. If your child identifies as part of the LGBT community they might find a good therapist that at least understands that part of their life where as most NHS therapists I've seen don't understand either. Mine didn't understand autism,  however she has gone above and beyond to learn because so many people going to the charity are also neurodiverse.
