My husband and I are having trouble filling out a Financial Review for Personal Budget relating to Direct Payments. We would appreciate some advice. Our son is a severely autistic adult (age 21) and lives with us. He is very vulnerable and needs someone to help him with all aspects of his life - financially and personally. He receives the higher DLA and some direct payments which are used to fund his care at a day centre (3 times a week.) As he is unable to manage money himself, we handle his money for him and are in charge of his outgoings. We do give him some 'pocket money' but this is monitored due to irresponsible spending in the past.
We have received a Personal Budget assessment form asking to give details of our son's income. We are finding this very difficult because it asks questions about his rent, council tax, savings, income and other financial things. As we care for him and therefore pay everything for him, we are unsure what to write. We don't charge him rent or council tax because we put his DLA money towards his care, clothing, shelter, food, travel expenses etc. We pay for him financially so he doesn't really have any assets of his own.
Any help would be appreciated!
