Hello,

today my little girl has been diagnosed with autism?? I now we sort of knew this was the. Case but a formal diagnosis has hit me hard...are there any other mums out there with little ones in the same position??? I would welcome all replies.

  • Hi - welcome.  There are lots of posts on here from parents who want to discuss their feelings post-diagnosis.  Please have a look as I think you'll find common ground.  A diagnosis, even when you are expecting it, can have a strong effect when it becomes real.  It takes time to adjust and to understand how autism affects your child as an individual, so also have a look at the rest of the site for info.  One step at a time is best, no need to rush things.  Just 1 more thing, apply for a statement of educational needs so your daughter can get the support she needs at school.  How old is she?
