Without autism diagnosis in school is stressing

Hi I am mom of 4years and 6 months he recently start the reception and he on waiting list for ASD diagnosis he have speech delay and behaviour disorder as well he easily get frustrated and he cannot set on one place and do stuff and don’t listen sometimes as well in school he having very bad days his behaviour was getting better before school however he start school it’s going crazy with teachers he doesn’t listen to them because they keep giving him punishment when he do something I am trying to getting his Ehcp plan but nobody helping and I had meeting with teacher I asked her what my son getting help in school because he in special needs she said oo we have everything sand pit for sensory and play ground and my speech therapist send care plan as well what my son need for help visual and to sharing part and playing part with him role play like that and the school no doing nothing I am really hurt how the teacher can be saying your son will be left behind studying because he no setting down one play doing his homework how will he set down if he have no support and have focus on stuff he in his world I am been crying then I feel little better i don’t know what to do if someone have any good advice please let me know thanks

  • I suggest you arrange to meet the SENDCO to discuss the plan proposed by the SALT and ask why it is not being implemented. Ask for a copy of the school's complaints policy and make a complaint. Do you have a Health Visitor? Ask for their support in getting a referral to CAMHS for an assessment. Have you had a reply from the Education Authority? If not maybe phone the SEND department and ask if the school has sent a request ... if not, ask about putting in a request yourself.

    It might be an idea to get some advice from the NAS advice line or a local special needs advice service - the education department will have local contacts.
