My daughters school has a new layout and works differently to how it was before the summer holidays.
Since being back, her behaviour has changed at school. At home she is good, most of the time. Her school have reported a few things back to me. I asked her why she is behaving like this and she replied, and I quote, 'I don't know. Its just automatic and just happens, it reminds me of (her last school which was the PRU).
They struggled to get her into classrooms but now she is but is reluctant to work majority of the time. In the classroom she is sometimes disruptive, standing on chairs, talking, swearing, shouting if she doesn't want to do something. When she does get heightened she will scream and shout and let everyone know how she's feeling and will become extremely disruptive and damage property and I will be called to pick her up. Other times she will let staff help her regulate by going into the Regulation room. She is really struggling to regulate when heightened and has shown this especially by crying, which she never seems to do. She is not physical towards staff but does is verbally abusive.
I don't know why as such because she is fine at home. I believe its because the school layout is so much like her previous school that it reminds her of it therefore behaves like it. If that makes sense. Any ideas will be amazing!! Thanks
