Didn’t meet criteria

Hi all

my child is 14 and for nearly 2 yrs I tried getting an autism assessment when I finally got it , on the schools perspective my child does not meet the criteria so we didn't get to see the professionals for my child to be properly assessed, my child also has anxiety which I feel they have put all this down too. Even though our dr said he thought he was and a nurse and now the emotional support therapist ( which is for his anxiety!) but I don’t know where to go from here. I have looked private but don’t have £2000-£3000 for it! I also appealed the decision which didn’t work.

I have 4 children one with diagnosed adhd , Asperger’s and didn’t have this issue but that was 16 yrs ago!

im lost and don’t know what to do please any advice is so appreciated .

  • Hello there, I'm sorry this didn't work out the way you hoped it would, but there may be a reason for it.

Firstly, why do you believe your child is autistic? There are a lot of symptoms in common with ADHD so it could also be this so I'm curious why you are looking at autism over ADHD.

Have you had quotes for a private assessment? I spent less than £500 on mine (essentially just taking the tests online and having a meeting with the psychiatrist) so this may be an option.
