Trampoline for pre-teen

Hi all

My daughter is 11 and received an ASD diagnosis last summer. One of the ways she regulates at home is to jump up and down pretty constantly. We have laminate floor throughout the house so she was complaining of sore ankles / knees and in April we bought an indoor trampoline. It was honestly the best thing we could have bought her, and the soundtrack to our evenings has been the constant noise of her bouncing in the kitche  whilst watching TV pretty much until bedtime!

Unfortunately the constant use of the trampoline has worn it out - the metal links have gradually been snapping over time and now it is unsafe to use (and is on its way the tip as we speak). Not a very safe trampoline to be selling in my opinion as my daughter is very slight in build so it shouldn't have broken as easily as it did, even with constant use, but that's a whole other issue!

We bought it on amazon and now need a replacement, but I don't want to get the same one obviously as we want it to last far longer than this one did. I have been to Decathlon and Go Outdoors but they don't do indoor trampolines and I wondered if anybody has any recommendations? All of the 'recommended' trampolines for children with ASD seem to be toddler ones, whereas we need something more hard-wearing and for a teen. I don't want to buy another random one online if we can't try it first, unless somebody has personally tried it and has positive feedback!

Does anybody have any recommendations please? It definitely needs to be indoor (as it is to use whilst watching TV / You Tube) so can't be huge. Her other one was 45inch in diameter so something similar is needed.

Thanks in advance from me and my bouncy daughter!

  • Thanks Briar - yes, I completely understand this and if that's the route we need to go down then we obviously will. I just hope there is an option which will accommodate her needs slightly more (the first links snapped off within a month!). My thinking is that surely gyms use trampolines for adults trying to get fit for example, so I imagine they are harder wearing than the one we got her.

  • Have a google for bounce trampoline. I’m pretty sure bounce is the name for the classes that they do where everyone bounced around for exercise. Lots came up on google that I imagine are better than Amazon who seem to sell a lot of cheaper imports now! There’s some on Argos too.

  • Just a thought, but I imagine the indoor trampolines are the kind that are used for exercise. They would expect people to use it for at a guess an hour a day, maybe 5 days a week. So I’d say that your daughter using it continuously (which of course is absolutely fine) is outside of normal wear and tear. So it may well be that you’ll have to purchase one more regularly than your average user.
