desparately need advice on sons behavior

My sons behavior with me seems to be getting worse paed said its not autism related, he is extremely clingy to me he is 11 yes old and he hates me giving anyone else my attention he said he just wants me to himself, he gets annoyed when in on the phone or computer or talking to someone, he says he only feels comfortable with me , his paed said he needs to see a clinical psycologist and im worried she said she cant offer any advice and it will take a long time has anyone else had similar issues??

  • The paediatrician is wrong.  That behaviour can totally go along with autism.  That's not to say that he can't also have co-morbid conditions such as anxiety, depression or even something like ADHD.  He may need to see a psychologist, but the reason she can't offer advice is that she clearly has no clue about autism!

    The autistic mind is an obsessive one.  He may consider you his "special interest".  Most autistic children feel safest with their primary care-giver (usually the mother) and therefore this can mean strong attachment.
