6 year old daughter - definite traits of autism - extreme stubbornness/lack of respect

Hi,

I am reaching out about my 6 year old daughter who myself and her other mum (separated mums) are certain has autism. In my opinion, her autistic traits are not severe however, definitely still challenging. I also find it very difficult to distinguish what behaviour is linked to her autism and what is simply just a 6 year old being a 6 year old. Regardless, some of her behaviour is becoming very difficult to understand and therefore to provide her with the relevant support. For example, if she does not get the desired answer or outcome for something she can suddenly lose her temper straight away or refuse to follow instructions. Even after she has been given multiple chances or has been told she will lose certain privileges, she will continue to say 'no' or to answer back etc. I know this kind of behaviour is common and expected somewhat of young children but I cannot emphasise enough how much she seems to take it to another level. I can only assume it is an element of her additional needs and/or as the result of being/feeling triggered.

I hope I have made enough sense in what I have written. I just wonder if anyone can simply just relate and then perhaps even offer some guidance/advice/support?

Thankyou
