Referral Refused

Good Afternoon

We have a 16 year old who we think has Aspergers, he is now going to 6th Form college and is really not looking forward to this.

Our referral has been closed due to a lack of sufficient supporting information but I'm completely stuck as to what to do next, As he is getting older the signs are more and more apparent, to us,  the previous school did not have any supporting documentation to help our case and this is why they have closed the referral.

I am looking for help in this situation on what to do next, any help would be greatly greatly appreciated.

  • While I don't believe we need any more pathologising, it does seem to be the case there are biological differences and this matters. It also matters that almost all of us have experienced discrimination and dehumanisation for not knowing how to 'follow along' with the crowd.

Can you explain what signs would suggest he's Autistic, as now the DSM is simply using this category. From what I can understand we all share some common fundamental values such as Monotropism, a different sense perception and heavy right brain thinking to the point it makes a difference in how we're able to use left-brain social/communication and executive function. Many of us are not disabled, just a mismatch in the western model of modern society.

But if some autistic adults here can help you explain better and you believe he might benefit from a diagnostic and also wants a diagnostic (this is crucial, to afford agency), please let us know what you mean :)
