Can you make the local police aware if your child is at risk of going missing because they have additional needs?
I think it will probably depend on where you live, but this sounds like responsible parenting to me and I can't see them having an issue with it.
As a general rule you can tell the police anything you think they should know. Of course that doesn't mean they'll act on it.
