Hello I would like to know if I am doing enough or I should be requesting for a statutory assesment? My ddaughter is 4 yrs old she has delayed speech and not much interest in social interaction with her peers. She had been diagnosed with ASD at 3yrs old. She has started school under school action plus and I discussed with SENCO and teacher about having a statement but the Educational Phycologist wants to see that the IEP and 20 hrs of help is not enough for my daughter. So this will take us to Jan before my daughter is considered for assesment. In the mean time the Educational Phycologist has referred me to Early Bird Plus who do not have any sessions till summer term and I am not gauranteed a place. The school is also approching the Social and Communication Team and we are waiting to see OT for a De sensitisation assesment.
I just feel as time is going by all this waiting is putting my daughter further behind. I feel school is trying help but Educational Phycologist wants us to wait. I do know I can request for a statutory assesment but do not want to go against school. The SENCO says she will help with getting statement but the pace things are going it feels like my daughter will not have a statement until she is yr one. Has anyone has a similar experience?
