Stimming and distressed

One of my Sons stimms is he runs up and down but tonight he kept doing it and was getting upset as he did.  Can anyone help with this, he eventually managed to settle himself down

    I think it would be really helpful (and potentially important) to understand what was different in your son's world last night.  If the running normally calms him - but last night it did not - then I presume something was different/worse for him.  Whilst asking him might deliver the answer to this, I think it is more likely that you will have more success if you wrack your own brain.
