Teenager social skills

My teen age recently diagnosed with ASD who is 13 is really finding hard to engage with people unless they know them very well. I am looking for help and guidance with this issue. Are there courses they can do for free ? And where can we meet like minded people to share these issues that totally understand.

There are some resources here on the NAS site that might be helpful to your situation. There is a section on socialising in our advice hub, and this is a link to the section on making friends - https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/family-life-and-relationships/making-friends. There are also other pages on topics like communication or loneliness that might be relevant. You might also try looking in the autism services directory - https://www.autism.org.uk/directory - for any social groups, clubs etc that might be in your area, since you mentioned meeting like minded people.
