Work or not work

Good evening,

I am looking for some guidance, I have an adult who is going to try and go back to college and sit her English and Maths for the fourth time. I am so proud that they are not giving up but it puts a strain on me. Over the last 6 years, my own mental health has taken a hit but I now have a hand on it and can control my emotions and thoughts. Since I heard about the possibility of going back to college, I have started thinking about how it is going to affect us. I was not the only one who needed support with their mental health. I really want to be a supportive mum, I am thinking of ways that I can get them to college and back home if they do not receive funding for a taxi. Traveling on public transport is not an option as their anxiety is too high, saying this, they are thinking of trying to Travel Training but already they are becoming anxious. So, I have some options, (a) leave early before work and take them and collect them later in the evening after college has finished. This may be 1 hour later or maybe 1 hour and a half. (b) give up work so that I am not so stressed and just be there for them, this will support their anxiety and mine but means I lose my independence and rely on benefits.

I am looking for others' insight into how they manage their adult child/ren with this situation or one that is similar. I thank you all in advance for your insight.
