Hi everyone,
My son is 9 and a half years old and he is currently being tutored at home. We have applied for an Ehcp and we're at the stage now that we are looking at schools, preferably in the Redditch/Bromsgrove area.
He received his ASD diagnosis in 2021 and he had been doing well in school in his primary school. It's only since he entered middle school, that he has been put on a reduced timetable of one hour. He's currently in a mainstream school. He is really struggling with the setting there.
The schools that have been suggested to me are:
1. Lokrum Fields
2. Heathfield Knoll
3. Bowbrook House School
4. Parkside school.
He really struggles with change and I am preferably looking at a school that he can stay in till 16 years old. He is very academically gifted. He's also terrified of see through stairs, so I think a smaller school would suit him as he was doing well in primary, which was a small setting. He is very lively and artistic. He has created his own card game which he illustrated himself.
Does anyone have any experience with these schools and if you have any other suggestions for schools I can look into, it would be greatly appreciated.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Anisa
