Video Gaming as a Cognitive Aid and tool for Growth

I found an amazing article by a child psychologist who encourages free-play as a useful way of learning and discusses how video games can actually be healthy and helpful: https://www.psychologytoday.com/intl/blog/freedom-learn/201502/cognitive-benefits-playing-video-games?fbclid=IwAR2Fq1KlqWDwcQptW6GcyDvdCvL9bGVX5GZfswAEL3HhYxT-NlSyUutIGSk

My is dyslexic, it was too mild for anyone to notice and because we moved from another country when he started year 3, it was just assumed he was behind, but clever. I noticed his interest in reading went up substantially after my father bought him Zelda. At the time I didn't know about NeuroDivergence or that I was Actually Autistic, but it made it easy for me to recognise his struggles and make adjustments which aided his growth.

So finding articles like this, is really useful! My son is now 26 and prefers to read on paper rather than digital, we both read slow & use a placard (it appears I have mild dyslexia as well).

Recently, a friend of his has been struggling with how she's affected by ADHD. He lent her one of his gameboys and it has helped her incredibly. She's a school teacher as well.
