Skills ahead and behind

My Son has ASC diagnosed at the end of last year. At the age of two he recognised numbers and could count to twenty. Age four he could recite the alphabet. Now age six he can’t read write or do simple sums. He can subtise though ( recognise an amount without counting it out?) So he was maybe ahead of his peers as a toddler in some ways but has now fallen behind. Is this common? He can still count to double figures above twenty and still knows his alphabet and almost all of his  phonetic alphabet.
