1st appointment

Hello,

Was referred to psychiatrist roughly over a year ago. She assessed over several appointments she said she thought autism BPD & or adhd. Or all 3.

I was referred for initial appointment for adhd and they agreed i fit the criteria and I would be added to waiting list. It’s 1.5-2 years wait.  I’ve been waiting a year so far.

I was told I was being referred to adult autism team for intitial assessment. Waiting time is 2-3 years.

The psychiatrist left her role & I was told I was discharged but would continue to see my cpn.

I Asked today for an update on both assessments today. Where is was on the list.

My cpn said the autism team have looked over all the notes my cpn had written and have said I do not fight the criteria to warrant further assessment. Having two autistic children doesn’t mean I am autistic. I am a person who has a traumatic upbringing and trauma from a domestic violent relationship.

I’m so upset.

How can they autism team make judgement if they have never met me.

  • I know if you’ve had any trauma they often tell you it’s BPD and not ASD. But anyone who is Autistic has more than likely experienced trauma. It doesn’t sound like they are willing to budge, so referring yourself elsewhere or privately is the answer.

  • My Cpn said today I think your a young woman with trauma.

I don’t understand how the autism team can make a judgment on me when they have never spoken or met with me face to face. My CPN says she doesn’t see any autism traits & the psychiatrist who i previously seen last year said she does see it. But going by the reports from my cpn the autism team says I don’t fit the criteria.

She said the only option is to go back to the GP & ask for another referral. which sounds pointless to me as it will no doubt be the same outcome.

    thanks Catlover for your reply.
