Statementing?

hi,

Just wanted some opinions really. My dd age 10 is apparantly doing well at school. She has been diagnosed with Aspergers, Dyspraxia and more recently as having Auditory Processing Problems. We have been told she may have to have an fm transmitter.

I have tried to get her help for years but it is as if i am getting nowhere. We have been asked to get her tested for dyslexia to see if her spelling issues are related to dyslexia or auditory processing.

This is all without the school backing. She is on school action +.

Just wondered if it is worth me trying for a statement on my own. Apparantly her levels are fine despite her spelling difficulties? But I am starting to worry about how she will cope at high school.

Any opinions please?

  • try  and get her statemented if possible, then she will be able to attend a secondary school with an asd unit attached as my son has this month,if this happens in my experience she will be fine at high school as she will get the support she needs, not just educationally.my son is on school action plus and is statemented for aspergers and is loving high school with its stuctured schedule and an lsa with him all day. so if you can get her statemented im sure it would help.
