Frustration at not being able to change situation

My son does not like to tell people he is autistic, as this will make him seem different. He tries to mask as much as possible outside home environment.

However he has had some unkind things said about going to support lessons. I know of others in our community who have had unkind things said when out. If only everyone in society was understanding of other people.

    Thank you for your helpful insight. I had never thought of it like that. ( I don't know how to turn the quote into italics from my phone).

  • The unkindness suffered by your own child must be so hard to bear. I hope it affects him with less intensity than you yourself very understandably feel. 

    Unfortunately, difference will always be mocked (it’s how the majority manage fear of it) until evolution shifts the ratios enough for truly evenly spread diversity to be the norm. And that’s just not going to be any time soon, though the acceleration has gently begun.
