Hi,
My son is 3 and is currently waiting for his autism referral to be made. We are looking for it to be sent before or after the February half term. In the midst of all this, he is being referred to community paediatrics and occupational therapy; I couldn't be more thankful. We also had another referral as they want him to have an EEG and ECG (Checking for seizure activity; suspected absence seizures), my main concern is that he will not let people near him that aren't his safe people. This makes it difficult when at appointments. How can I support him?, he has good understanding and comprehension for his age,but has poor communication and is often non-verbal (select-mute), he often gets frustrated due to conductive hearing loss too.
There is so much going on around him, for the better of course but I know how exhausting the appointments can be for him . Any advice on how to support him as he is so young, even explaining it and creating a social story would be quite difficult too. Any advice, guidance or another person to relate to is appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
