Loves to go to school but doesn’t like to learn which therefore is a struggle for him

Hi everyone,

recent diagnosis for my 7 year old son.

Any sniff of learning he runs.

he loves to go to  school and is a sociable kid, but struggles hugely with his learning but definitely no struggle when it comes to learning what his interest are.

and school don’t engage with what his interests are (maybe when he gets to secondary school with history lessons) but not now for sure.

I have yet to have a meeting with the school going forward as said they diagnosis is very recent but definitely in the new year.

How imaginative are schools when it comes to supporting autistic children in their learning and development?

I am a bit pessimistic and in my mind all I see is informal and boring support for my sons development.

steering off of subject for a minute. I am saddened to know that drama is not part of the uk curriculum. All the benefits for all children such as social skills amongst other benefits and I mean of course this would be implemented in whatever it was in their learning. But this would be good as my son enjoys drama and he attends a small community drama class, but nothing structured play as you go basically lol

. I think this would be very beneficial for my son in school as he is a visual and hands on learner.

what can be done to try to engage him with his learning.

I really don’t see how they can implement roblox and  countries around the world, the history and status quo.

He will be learning about ancient Egypt when he goes back to school and I have tried to start him on this and the way I am doing it, is the Master mind method

He answers a question on Roblox or countries he then has to answer a question on school work. I provide the resources he need to find this information out ( he does not know all the answers to roblox lol)

it is going well. for the sacrifice of 80 Roblox a day lol

I know I should not do this as he will except rewards all the time.

has anyone beaten the  odds with the local authority or school on on how creative they can be in trying to engage the kids learning and if it was successful or not?

many thanks
