Is homeschooling an option for a 16 year old?

We've made the decision to homeschool our daughter after the Christmas break. There's a 90% chance she'll be happy with this. Currently she is only in school 2 and a half days a week and doesn't get any work done and isn't happy there. There was an incident a few days ago and I haven't heard anything from the school about it and I can't get through to them either. After that incident, we both had a sleepless night and I told her that I don't want her going back, but she said she'll give it one last try but will most likely leave at the end of the term.

We've been looking at the options for ages. She will struggle too much in college and its not the right environment for her. She won't work or do an apprenticeship, work experience or any volunteering. So all I can think is for her to do school work from home, which she is basically doing right now. She's got no GCSEs or anything.

Thanks for the rant, really needed it. Is there any other options anyone can think of? Thanks

  • We aren't too worried about GCSEs or Functional Skills that she's meant to be doing within the next few years. She is 100% getting ready to be homeschooled. She said there's a 90% chance she'll leave after Christmas Holidays but still wants to continue at the school for some reason even though she says she hates it. She's said this to every school and don't know why.

She has printed off a homeschool timetable and is in the middle of making plans of what she's doing each lesson for the rest of the school year. She said that she's doing this because she has a felling she will leave the school soon but said it will only be after a really bad day, like she's just had, and was be impulsive because she's ready for the change.

How else can we make this change easier. She's home 2 and a half days a week so we are halfway there.
