Is homeschooling an option for a 16 year old?

We've made the decision to homeschool our daughter after the Christmas break. There's a 90% chance she'll be happy with this. Currently she is only in school 2 and a half days a week and doesn't get any work done and isn't happy there. There was an incident a few days ago and I haven't heard anything from the school about it and I can't get through to them either. After that incident, we both had a sleepless night and I told her that I don't want her going back, but she said she'll give it one last try but will most likely leave at the end of the term.

We've been looking at the options for ages. She will struggle too much in college and its not the right environment for her. She won't work or do an apprenticeship, work experience or any volunteering. So all I can think is for her to do school work from home, which she is basically doing right now. She's got no GCSEs or anything.

Thanks for the rant, really needed it. Is there any other options anyone can think of? Thanks

  • Had to pull my son out if school from day 1 he was 7 when I finally said that's enough I won't go into too much detail but.it had to be done..I home school him.and yes am proud to say he can do all mathematics etc to very high past A  level standard  he is good at everything but he is very intelligent most likely has high iq I think he got a level of satisfaction from doing it so ge knew yes he can do it just like all the other kids think thats what felt good to him he wasnt bothere about getting a bit of paper to proove it he is good to A level standard it doesn't matter as he has no plans for university now and the things he likes dont need those qualifications etc also you can take all the school grades on line now. My son asd is pretty crippling to point he don't leave house so he won't need those bits of paper as he won't fit into that world so why put that pressure on him.Anyway good luck.
