Afternoon everyone,
I'm Gem, mum to Tom (6) he's as yet undiagnosed, but what the professionals consider to be a potent mix of Aspergers, PDA and possibly a bit of ADHD too. I think everyone considers themselves an expert when it comes to their own child, but myself and Toms dad are now prepared to hold our hands up and admit we are just not coping. Some days Tom seems ok, not for the whole day!! but in general we manage him well. Other days we cant get a single thing done without emotions running high, meltdown, trashing of the house. It's finally worn us down.
Considering the amount of input we've had from all sorts of agencies, surrounding Tom and school (we've finally won a huge battle with the LEA to get Tom into private specialist education) but we've had very little info or help when it comes to home life. We also have a little girl, who is 2, so everyday can be hard from the minute Tom gets up, which averages 5am.
I'm keen to go on a PDA workshop, anything, that may help us to be better parents to Tom. He deserves the very best and at the moment, he's just not getting it from us
I'm in Crewe, Cheshire East. Thanks xx
