Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT)

Hi,

I am a mum of a 10 years old which was diagnosed with autism  in 2021.

Following diagnosis we haven’t been provided with a treatment plan, apart for some resources to refer to.
we have been mainly working with the school to implement some small interventions to tackle some issues such as interpersonal and social skills as well as some techniques to keep her focus and attentive when completing school work.

School is becoming more demanding and at time we are struggling to keep up. Additionally, on the communications and interactions side my daughter seems to be far beyond people in her year group to her challenging in taking active part into conversations.

Westminster CAMHS doesn’t seem to have anything to offer to improve her skills tool box in terms of therapy and I did start them looking into PRT.
While relatively new and therefore not well spread, this approach seems to be getting reactions especially in terms of parental training.

The all approach was born in US - Stanford University - it derived from ABA though it deviates from it due to its naturalism and development approach with child at the center and positive rewards.

I was working whether any one in this community had any experience of it or thoughts on this.

Thank you
