3yo with potential ASD

Hello there! , i have a 3 year old soon to be assessed(and maybe diagnosed) with ASD ,  he is non verbal and he is very delayed pretty much in all aspects. He is a happy boy and ofr the most part easy to work with (goes to the park, nursery , likes the car , can sit at a restaurant etc)

Now what I'm after is real medical support on his communications (we normal get someone to visit us and tell us how delayed he is but not real help) , i see online that in the US there's clinics (private mostly) that have 1 to 1 classes and help of that sort.

Is there anything like that in the UK , it seems like the support we get through council and nursery is a bit short so I am willing to go privately if there's something available ,  i live near Leeds but I'm willing to relocate if needed.

Please let me know if this is something that exists in England , as most of the websites i get served by ads look quite un-professional

  • I am in the same position with my nearly 3-year-old -  Its hard and it sometimes feels like no one will help or understands. Have you looked into PACT therapy it is speech therapy aimed at children with autism ( you will have to pay privately) We have done 1 session upto now so i can't give an opinion but hoping it helps my little one.  I am happy to share my details if you ever need to chat - it sounds like we are in similar positions.

  • Hi my situation is very similar to yours. My son is non verbal and the PACT therapy was mentioned at a recent school visit. Have you had anymore sessions so far?

  • HI - yes i have had 2 sessions now. I think its hard bevause you have to expect this isnt a miracle and it takes time but they definitely help spot times when you miss a instance of you little one making eye contact or attempting to communicate but in different ways. I am still on the fence as to if this is right for my little one but i can see the thought process behind it and it helps to give you an approach thats specific for your childs needs.   Please let me know if you want to dicuss further - its hard not to feel alone on this fight for suport so always happy to chat
