Hi everyone,

My name is Chris and im a 33 year old father based in N1 London. My amazing son kit is just about to to turn 2 and showing more and more signs of being Autistic. I am sad to say I just thought it was his development being a bit slow and also he is just an active little man and never showed much interest in TV or books etc(bar Peppa Pig). The signs are becoming more apparent and I just want to get hime the assessment and ultimately start moving in the right direction whatever outcome to give him the support and happy life he deserves. Nothing has ever made me happier then this little angel so I will do all I can to support him. Our GP is appalling and out health visitor the same so I am looking to go private for the consultation and tests and possibly sessions after that. Money is no object for his happiness but ultimately I cannot pay the world. Does anyone have any help or advice or recommendations for us both? 

Any and all help grateful, I feel very lost and sad that I haven't helped him sooner but I wont let him down anymore.

    If you want to help your son, what would help most is changing your attitude towards him being autistic, no more ''sad about'', or ''whatever outcome'', 

    The Future is not set - it's a video on youtube by autistic TED speaker saying that most damaging to his future was seeing his parents looking at him as if he was less than human, it killed his self-confidence before he knew what it is

    Being autistic isn't the end, it's amazing, only ableist society perceives it differently because we are not driven by personal or financial gain

    This is a crucial point! The problem is, autistic kids are always tested on their weak points and therefore associated with developmental delay instead of testing them on their strengths. My son could understand complex traffic lights sequences with bus fases before he could walk and speak for example... Additionally parents tend to have expectations on who their kid will be, with "standard" kids this goes away gradually as they grow up and show who they are but with autistic kids society asks to do it that very early and at once, hence the strong feeling. I wish diagnostics would be done by autistic profesionals!
