Hi,
This is my first post here so apologies if it’s in the wrong place!
Basically my youngest son is going through autism diagnosis, we’ve had the paediatrician appointment who has referred him to SCAT for diagnosis and we are working with SALT as he is none verbal. I could go through all of his difficulties but all the professionals so far are pointing to autism.
So the health visitor was supposed to make some referrals in October 21 and January 22 however I recently found out not all of these were actually done. Portage have now refused to get involved as he is now three ( this was one of the referrals that was supposed to be completed but wasn’t.) So from three I have been told this then turns to the “inclusion” services from the council. I would need to have these on board for the EHCP (which can be done out of area) so he will have help in school. (He will 100% not be able to cope in a classroom without 1 to 1 support) however I have now been told that inclusion will not allow me to access their services. I moved from one area to another but kept my eldest son in school for the previous area as he felt too overwhelmed in moving. So as the Nursey is only a stones throw away I decided to place my youngest in the same area to make life less stressful. As we live out of area one council are refusing their inclusion service as we don’t live there and the other is refusing the service as he doesn’t do to nursery in theirs. I have been given two options of either move him nursery or pay privately for the service which I can’t afford. I don’t want to move him Nursey as he has only just began to settle and still can’t cope with a full day etc due to meltdowns. He has only just began to acknowledge staff even though there is no eye contact it a major step for him. The thought of moving him nursery is quite frankly heartbreaking.
I wondered if anyone has been able to access inclusion services out of area and how this has been managed? The EHCP advisors have expressed they need inclusion to be on board for them to approve so any help of advice would be more than appreciated!
kind Regards
