Primary school adjustments / funding

Hello,

First time poster long time lurker. I hope to contribute and ask questions more Blush.

I have a 6yo son who is pre-diagnosis, he is a really good boy at home but is struggling at school. Last year we had no issues and this year he has been lashing out at adults and kids and swearing. He knows it's wrong but seems to lose control of himself, he never does this at home either it's like they have a different child.

I have concerns about the school. The SENCO has gone part time this year, he had provisions last year to work with a TA most of the time, he had a lot of time alone outside of class, emotional literacy support, lego therapy etc. This year we were pleased to hear that he is in class alongside other kids most of his time but now feel this might have tipped him over the edge and he is acting out aggressively at play times.

We have had 3 code of conduct letters in 2 weeks and the headteacher threatening suspension if he lashes out again.

My question is how should I deal with the school, they acknowledge there are some things they need to do differently but can I trust them and take a patient approach that they will put in place adequate adjustments?

Or is my cynical side right; That this is all about spending as little cash on him as possible and I need to be quite robust with the school and probably some legal assistance to ensure he gets what he needs and is entitled to?

We don't have an EHC plan yet, we have GRIP funding and will apply for EHC.
