My six year old had the ADOS assesment over four months ago. During the initial telephone conversation I had before the assessment, the person said they don’t give levels or anything, they just say yes you are Autistic or no your not. The person at the face to face assesment said they will either tell me my child is Autistic or suggest another diagnosis and sign post us to the relevant service. If it’s that straight forward why haven’t I just received a yes or no by now and any possible alternative diagnosis? I need to know so we can get the right support. One good thing is he now attends a Special Needs school and the staff know how to help children with a range of differences including Autism.
