  1. Hello, im.a single parent of an 11year old son who is non verbal..i have zero family or friends.i am also a cancer patient and  am thinking about setting up a trust for him which wont effect any means tested benefits when he is older.i have zero capital abour from some savings..has anyone done this? Amy advice wouod be appreciated 

  • I’m not sure if it’s affordable for you or not but I’d speak to a solicitor about this if that’s possible for you. I know someone that did something like this but when their son needed help from social services they were told he would probably have to use this money they’d organised for him (I’m sorry I don’t know the details) to pay for the support he needed now. So I think yo7 need good solid legal advice about this - because you don’t want to end up losing these funds in a way that he won’t benefit from.
