IEP review meeting

We have always had IEP review meetings each year, with a reviewed IEP inbetween, until now, all of a sudden we have had no meeting.  I have been emailed (after enquiring about a meeting) a copy of the IEP, which is awful and does not address her problems at all. She had such a good one at the begining of the school year.

I have requested meetings with the SENCO but just get excuses all of the time.  Am I meant to have a meeting or is just giving me an IEP ok.

A very stressed mother Cry

  • so to re-cap,, it is you which wishes the IEP meeting, not the school. You wish it for three reasons,,1.) because you normally get a meeting 2.) the current report is out of date 3.) you children are having further issues and struggling.

You are also worried that the class structured support has changed and is inadequate and you are going to be fighting for other resources in the class with other parents and childs which is limited and now reducing. You want more hours and assistance for your kids.

Senco will not have a meeting with you.

Okay, clear the decks, start again.,, it is you which is raising the issue here, no one else,, so unless you can get support of a teacher or some other body,, you are shouting in the wind. I would suggest start by writing a letter to concern to these bodies and take it from there, if they spit you out,, take it onto whoever oversees these people. At some point some one will listen to your concerns. Worst comes to worse remove your children from school if they are under duress, after you have wrote all the letters and spoke to the correct people asking for a review.

Failing all that,,, ask the school to buy you kids rocking chairs for the classroom. (sorry that is a bad joke, but i hope you know what i mean), why did they even do the original assessments in the first place, if they are not doing a continuation of assessment, as needs change.
