Cars and electricity special interest

My son is a high functioning autistic child with special interest in cars, particularly designing and building cars with lego blocks. He is very technical and loves talking about cars (engines, cogs, gears...). He also loves science especially understanding theory around light, electricity and making experiments. It would be nice to find other children with similar interests, He is 9 years old.

  • He's got a great mind! I wish I had known him when I was 9.

It's how I started - around aged 8, I had an unhealthy obsession with Electricity and Lights - making experiments using batteries, torch bulbs, different coloured glass/plastic etc.
At the same time I had a very unhealty obsession with TV (how it worked) and Films and how all that worked.
I spent a lot of my Teens out and about with an 8mm film (yes  - really) camera making my own films.

After leaving school - I managed to get an appreticeship training as an Electrician working in a Theatre in their Lighting Department, and then later on moved into working in TV and then Films in the same capacity.
30odd years later - I'm still doing it and wouldn't change my line of work for all the gold int he world.

My point - if he keeps going, he can easily get into work that he also find enjoyable.
