Dangerous games on stairs

My Son likes to slide down stairs head first, he was sometimes go down by walking if we tell him to. Over the last few days he started coming down stairs head first with a duvet or blanket over his head. We tell him to stop and take the duvet or blanket off him but it just causes a meltdown. We can distract him from it but only for a few minutes. Any ideas what’s causing this or what we can do about it?

  • That must be really worrying for you.

If you have spare funds you could check out a whizzy dizzy. It’s like a mini roundabout for your house it’s super stimulating and may give him the thrill he’s seeking by going head first down stairs. We have a whizzy dizzy at home both my boys age 4 and 12 love it. I must say even I enjoy a turn lol. Have you seen those scoot boards? My eldest has the large one he zooms up and down the living room lying on his stomach or sitting on his bottom and he loves it. Both Great sensory toys and great investments as we have had them for years and they are used daily.

If all else fails I’d try the baby gates. Which unfortunately for him will make him sad but you just want to keep him safe.
