Good evening,
My son age 8 was diagnosed back in 2021 with Asd /anxiety .
School is a very big trigger for him and 5 year down the line its still a big drama to get him into school in the morning he Then masks alot at school then sometimes we are not out the school gate and it's a meltdown to me about his day and how he's not going back the next day. It's very draining on me and I'm just looking for some advice if any . He is in a mainstream school with no enhanced provision unit or enhanced support staff. He just tells me they shout all the time we've tried lots of different things with school, ear defenders etc and I guess different teachers is hard for him as well as his peers he communicates very well and is quite sociable but seems to struggle dealing with situations with his peers which again he can become distressed . He is not violent or lashing out, just very emotional /angry and shouts and no reasoning with him its his way/version and that's it . I have thought about moving him to one with enhanced support staff but I know that brings its own change and he might struggle .
Bedtime he doesn't seem to sleep a full night he asks lots of questions before bed them eventually will fall asleep but can't get him to stay in his own bed he will wake up in the night and climb in my bed it doesn't matter how any times I try to put him back .
Also I feel since his diagnosis we have just been left to it and I'm not aware other than this of any advice/support for us .
Any help /advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
