This is just how we learn. Different than NeuroTypical kids who like a range of different subjects all at once. 

But the difference is this. One thing, however, is a collexion of a range of things. The same game has colour palettes, it has an essence, it has its own 'laws' and system, if it's a video game this goes even further. Taking time to absorb all the complexities of any given thing is how we learn best and thrive. We can become specialised. But no one thing is ever seen at surface value. We don't see a 'pool' of water but the depths and possibilities. We might think of all the ways pools are part of life and water is part of life, we might begin to dream about wells and fountains and ponds and think of the ways these are put together.

Meanwhile, a thing might not hold all the depths and connexions for a NeuroTypical brain and they might even get board with topic because they're not having all these micro-eureka moments about them. 

EVERY thing is intense for us once we engage. Anything can become a passion (an obsession is something harmful). This is normal. We tend more often than not to use full-brain reasoning, with heightened gamma waves and a lack of ability to filter incoming information. It's our best feature and if nurtured and protected (this is a type of vulnerability) we can thrive.

Thanks that does help.  You are happy to admit it now they are doing better I say always love what you love.
