sleep issues

hi there,

I am new here and my daughter actually has ADHD but wasnt sure where else to post. She is 7 yrs old.

My daughter has always had sleep issues but they were getting better, they then got bad again so I tried sleep meds from her peditition but they didnt work so I no longer am using them.

However we have got so bad in the last week, with being a nightmare at bedtime then awake pretty much all night. The last three nights have been murder!!! I am physically exhausted and dont know what to do anymore, am sat here in tears, I try so hard not to get angry with her but its so hard!!!

I jsut dont know what to do for the best to help her, I dont know how she functions, the only way I have got her to settle tonight is let her get into my bed but I obviously dont what to make a habit of it!!!

I also know it is partly down to her ADHD but still want to be able to help her at night, I dread nighttimes in my house at the moment and also think it is so hard as I am a single parent so no respite from the nighttime breaks so to speak.

    Thanks for your reply,

My daughter has a strict routine which she has always had and she agrees with, she is definately tired as she is almost asleep downstairs when we are having cuddles etc before bed. The room is how she wants it (like your son we had issues when she was younger and overcame them by buying her a new bed as she needed one and she chose it). I am also a single mum and last night in the end let her settle in my bed, by the time I went to bed she was fast asleep so we got a good nights sleep.

In terms of the ADHD her paed told me it is common for people with ADHD to have issues with sleeping so dont know whether to just battle it out or go back to the paed again and see what she suggests.

Again thank you for the reply.
