Childcare

Hi, my son is 4 and about to start a second year in nursery pre school as he's summer born. He still can't manage full days as it's tiring for him being around so many children. I want to find a nanny to help me look after him 3 or 4 afternoons a week, but I'm having trouble finding anyone. I know there is a shortage of nannies generally, but I just wondered if there was anywhere I should be looking other than the usual childcare websites. Is there anywhere that specialises in childcare for children with SEN that I don't know about? I'm pretty sure that saying he's autistic in the advert is putting people off.

  • Hiya,

i am not aware of any sites specifically for children with SEN.

saying he is autistic in the advert shouldn't be putting people off. maybe do another without mentioning his autism and see if there is a difference in applicants? and then discuss it with them after. have you described his autism or just mentioned the label as they may not really know what he experiences.

I babysit and have never said no due to a diagnosis. i just prefer to know so i can support them the best i can

  • It appears that the easiest way not to undermine your own health and not spoil relationships in the family is to find a nanny who will take care of the kids and an assistant who can be entrusted with household chores. However, hiring two workers is not what every family can afford, and not everyone is to their liking. I went to https://myasiannanny.com/ to find a woman who could help with the children and manage the household.
