Affordable sound proofing

My son (3.5) years old has always struggled with sleep. When he does wake in the night, he is full of energy and just jumps up and down for an average 3 hours in his bedroom. As much as myself or his father will lay with him. The noise is incredibly load banging, doesn't help our house has paper thin walls, but I need to try and find a solution so that at least one parent and his sibling can get a good nights sleep. 

I was considering, potentially sound proofing his room, maybe thick gym mats on the floor and sound proofing pads for the wall, but would need to be high quality as he tends to try and eat rubber and other materials.  

Does anyone know of any companies that specialize in this?

  • This thread seems to have gotten lost! Have you tried UV treated natural Cork? It is an amazing eco friendly and human friendly sound proofing material. There's a few companies out there, so you could do a search. I work in sound and this can really help - many companies also make them for wall absorption as well. Also, heavy fabrics work wonders on windows and ceilings to absorb sound so they're not reflecting or being carried through walls. Cotton velvet curtains or fabric panels. I would look around for companies who make panels for music studios. But perhaps do a search for cork flooring first, as that might help.
