i want to hear about your experiences

I am a trainee clinical psychologist, and i will be talking about Families who have a child with a learning disability.

I would like to hear about what things you have found helpful about the professionals you come in to contact with and what you have not found helpful about the professionals.

Your experiences are really important and i would really like to hear from you.

it can be anything from: not feeling listened too or not feeling involved in your childs care plans etc.

  • Trainee are you looking for a case study on the families experience not the actual childs experience ? so it is a nt to nt dialogue ? This forum I believe should be for people with autism not there families, parents or friends etc, this is were the NAS is not set up right. Set up family and parent groups, but why should nts have the precedent on the expertise and discussion on my autism condition ! I don't know if my views speak for most people with autism,, BUT I FEEL MY CONDITION HAS BEEN HIJACKED by people like yourself and even the NAS setup.. and therefore makes false representation by third party intercessors who are controlling autism child catchers, whilst ignoring the adults with autism like the NAS do as they are too political for there cosy soft-option agenda.

Sorry if my view is a bit strong, but I hope in the future that the autism community can get rid off the need support my poor child has autism, tea and biscuit circles and let the people with autism speak ! for autism. !

Here is the reality point !... the NAS, parents, family, friends, professionals, doctors,, DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT AUTISM ! they have not lived the experience.. so it does not matter what they say,, it is false error thinking,, life experience is the true knowledge of essense. I don't say this to be mean,, I say it because it is the truth.

  • Well trainee what happens to the information you collect in this way? You say you are using it to give a talk. Where? In what context?

Information imparted to you for your research might get into the wrong hands, such as being quoted in the media. Thuis might contain information identifying a person who responded to your request. That's why you need to read the rules about posting.

Also you say you are a trainee, but where? Your employer or educational establishment should have rules about the conduct of investigations. In Higher Education its called research ethics.

  • Hi Alex

    Thanks for reply.

I am not carrying out research or surveys, I just really like to hear from parents on their experiences. It will only be used to enable me to understand the difficulties faced. I am really sorry if I have caused any offence.

    Warm regards

    Trainee

  • Hi there,

If you are looking for people to take part in research studies, surveys or media work then visit out page about research and participation to find out how to contact us. Do not use the Community to make these requests without permission and approval from the NAS.

    Thanks,
