Increased aggression

My nearly 16 y.o daughter is becoming more and more agitated every day. She has a lot on her mind, getting a job, college, school, driving, money and the list goes on. I've been trying to help her but she is difficult to connect with.

Myself and the school are worried about her because she hasn't seemed herself recently. She's very low and in school she said she wishes she was dead and wants to kill herself. She has been self harming aswell. She's also more impatient and anything ticks her off a lot more than it did. She has recently been punching the walls a lot so now in pain. She's been headbaging and biting a lot. In school it's been the same and she's been obsessed with one teacher in particular, playing with her hair especially, leaning on her, hugging her, and putting her in headlocks gently in a playful way. It's obvious that my daughter trusts this teacher a lot and is one of the few staff she will talk to about any issues.

What can I do. We've done well but now we've taken a little dip. Thanks for reading this. X

  • She has an awful lot on her plate right now, and I guess she’s overwhelmed with it all. She simply cannot cope and thus her mood has hit an all time low. She certainly needs some downtime to rest and recover. Does she have any interests she can get lost in? She could do with an outlet to help her let off steam.

My daughter had been quite similar in the past, and I do know how upsetting it is for you and the rest of the family. Hopefully this places won’t last too long…

  • We are worried because shes been like this in the past, especially always around this time of year. She doesn't have any interests at the moment unfortunately. We are leaving her alone because that's what she wants.
