Wetting and soiling

I have talked about toileting on this site a couple of times. My Son who’s nearly six is being toilet trained, which is a very long process. There are times when he needs to urinate or open his bowels but he runs away from us and hides rather than sit on the toilet, he will giggle to. Could this be because he likes the feel of wetting or soiling himself? he wants a reaction? or he is anxious about using the toilet?

  • Last week he took himself off to the toilet three times and we gave him lots of praise which he loved. He’d been watching a potty training video which we think motivated him. Today he has been refusing to use the toilet and having accidents despite watching the video. Is this usual? what could be the cause?
