Toileting advice needed please :)

Hi,

I am new here so apologies if I am writing this in the wrong place, I just really need advice and have been searching for somewhere I can ask anyone!

My daughter is 7 and has very recently been diagnoised with mild ASD (although we are still going through the process of assessments etc, she has recieved the diagnosis)

She is very able and clever. She is also very head strong and emotional. She is mainly wet during the day, but has started medication to help-which is think is going okay.

The problem we now have is that for the last 3 months she has decided that she will no longer poo in the toilet. Bowel movements have never been a problem for her!

She now soils herself several times a day (she is in knickers) her school manage her changing quite well but obviously she keeps having urine infections and is very sore down below from either sitting in soiled knickers or from cleaning herself!

It doesnt matter what is said to her, rewards, consequences etc. She is quite happy so say 'I just dont want to'.

I am finding it rather frustrating that something that has never been a problem is now taking over- we cannot take her out to places like soft play or parks etc as she will soil herself and carry on, getting poo everywhere (not nice for her or anyone else!). She has also started smearing poo around the house and 'stashing' soiled knickers in places such as the bottom of her wardrobe or behind the wash basin.

Does anyone have any ideas at all as to what I can do???

All proffessionals have said its behavioural (she has been given movicol 1/2 sachet once a day to keep her regualr) everyone has decided to blame this on her new diagnosis ( I have not told my daughter about her diagnosis yet as we are still waiting for further asssessments, and I dont want to worry her) and I have been given no advice to help support her to use the toilet again!

Thank you in advance :)
