Disability Grant for loft extension

Hi I was wondering if anyone has successfully applied for a disability grant for a loft extension.  My daughter is 14 and is diagnosed autistic, severe anxiety and OCD - i  We currently live in a 3 bed house and my daughter has the box room - however she will not sleep there as she said its claustrophobic and the room closes in on her - at present its just used store her belongings.- she sleeps with me and my husband has slept on the sofabed in our living room for the past 10 years. My daughter is happy to sleep alone in my large bedroom if I am not there but she is unable to sleep in there - we have tried redecorating and changing her bed etc but nothing works.. My adult daughter has the other larger room and it is unfair to get her to swap as she basicly lives in there. The situation is becoming more stressful and we need to find a solution.

.
Ideally we would like a loft extension so my daughter can have my room and myself and hubby can move upstairs but we don't have enough savings or income to pay the full amount.

Somebody mentioned we may be eligible for a disability grant - Does Anyone have any ideas?- . Thank You

  • Hi Deborah, I was hoping you had some success. Me and my wife are in the same situation as we have two Daughters who share a room who are both diagnosed with many issues. One is nearly 23 & 16. They both need their own space and we are at our wits end on how to try and manage this. I have looked for a grant to no avail. I suppose you need to know where to look & what to ask. If you had any joy I would appreciate it if you could reach out to me. [removed by moderator]
