Discounts for attractions and theatre

How many of you take advantage of discounts on tickets to attractions or theatre for autistic children and/or go in free as a carer?

Some places seem to make it easier than others and some need evidence of the DLA or the diagnosis whereas others take your word.

I am in two minds, in one case I feel like there should be some perks to parenting an autistic child but then there are some places where my son might actually be ok and I feel we don't deserve it.

I myself am autistic  and i felt really embarrassed at a National Trust house where my sister got in free as my carer but I am more than happy to have got cheaper seats for the theatre.

Would love to know how others feel .

  • My daughter and I wanted to visit the rides. I've had experience getting a discount for a child before. I just specified the DLA diagnosis, and they gave me a 30% discount. I tried to find a discount at https://heydiscount.co.uk/. Last time I was required to get permission from my doctor with the condition that my daughter has DLA confirmed. When I wanted to pay for the discounted tickets at the box office and prove that I was worthy of the discount, I was told that such children were not allowed to ride the slides or visit the rides. Is it legal to refuse? I paid money and was sold tickets once. Why can't I go to the rides a second time?
