3 year old who pushes, shoves and scratches

Hi! I’m new to the community so hello! I have a 3 and a half year old little boy who has a diagnosed speech delay and SPD, we are on the emerging needs pathway for a diagnosis. He is a very jolly little chap but whenever we see a child of about the same age he will run straight to them and push them over. We are working super hard with signs and visual cues and I try very hard to get in there before he pushes with my ‘hello’ sign and ‘let’s play’ but inevitably with two other older children some times I miss the signs that it’s coming. I find the judgement of other parents really distressing. I had to hide in a bush this morning to have a cry.

He is also really difficult with his siblings, I know he just wants their attention but the pushing and scratching is distressing for them too. I now avoid parks and public spaces. I know this isn’t the answer but my anxiety has reached such a high I have to stay away for my own well-being.

If anyone has any advice on this I’d be so grateful, so far having a child with ASD has been rather a lonely experience. Thanks all!
