Sleep

Hi there, my 5 year old daughter is a terrible sleeper but recently has been even more unsettled in the night than normal. She will only sleep in my bed not hers as anxious but moves and fidgets constantly from about 11pm until almost time to get up when she seems to be fast asleep! I’ve changed the sheets, tried a weighted blanket etc but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as I’ve not slept in days!! She says she’s hot a lot too… no idea!
thanks Pray

  • Sensitivity is a pain in the backside, I have been experiencing more sleep disturbances too as of lately, I have problems going and maintaining sleep all my life. I made an ethogram to record and explore my behaviour and realised that air pressure, weather and rapidly changing weather affect my ability to sleep.

the weather has suddenly changed and become warm and sunny all of a sudden. so it could be that she require a bit more fluids than usual and is dehydrated and not recognising it.

It could be stimulatory. going from natural light to sudden darkness can cause Circadian rhythms issues or a sudden sensory drop off which can be as painful as being overstimulated.

are they complaining about headache more often. it's quite possible that they are experiencing headache and not reaching out and informing you because sometimes when going to sleep on a migraine i will wake suddenly during the night in pain and trying to go back to sleep is painful.

i say this from my own experience as a child and an adult.
